Tips On Shooting Photos With Modern Cameras
Modern cameras are much more user-friendly than cameras of the past. Anyone can take great pictures with the right camera. But you can really move your cameras up a notch by following the following tips.
1. Look at your background before taking the picture. Will that tree appear to be growing out of Mom’s head? Will passing vehicles distract the viewer from your graduating niece in her cap and gown? Often you can ask your subjects to move a step or two and avoid these distractions.
2. Use natural light whenever possible. Many digital cameras have an option to turn the flash off. If it is light enough outside to read, you really don’t need a flash. Natural light will make for a more natural picture.
Artificial lighting from a flash is very harsh on human skin. This can make your subjects look very pale. If you are indoors and it doesn’t seem light enough, try placing your subjects near a window and use the fill flash feature.
3. Avoid aiming the camera straight at faces. Instead, aim the camera slightly down, a little to the side, or a three quarter view. This will reveal more of the face. A picture taken at an angle looking down with a three quarter view is slimming.
4. Don’t forget how useful the focus feature on your camera can be. It allows you to get closer to your subject. By filling more of the frame with the person you are taking a picture of, you are sure to capture your intended memory.
5. Remember not to place your subject in the dead center of your picture. The subject should be just off center. If you are taking a picture of a large group of people, just find the middle of the group. This is the focus that should be just off center.
While you may not become a professional photographer, you and your loved ones will really appreciate your new and improved camera skills!
