Children’s Party Theme Ideas

by Hannah Scrivener

Deciding upon an entertaining and fun idea for your child’s next birthday party can be a frightening situation for even the most imaginative parent. Planning out a fun-filled day for a group of very active children is a hard process no matter what age group the children are, and having the responsibility as the party planner and organiser can lead to day full of stress and anxiety. However with a little thought and careful planning you can turn your child’s birthday into a day they will remember for a long time to come.

The first step to any successful party is ensuring your guests are in a state of great anticipation for an exciting day when they arrive. One sure-fire way of guaranteeing a day of fun and excitement at a child’s birthday party, is by having a theme for the event. The following article summarises a few theme ideas that will hopefully get the creative juices flowing when planning your child’s next birthday party.

Fairy – Allow your little girl to take off into the world of fairy magic, as she goes on an enchanting journey with her friends. Give your little girl a birthday to remember by entertaining her and your guests with fairy games, song and dance, and activities such as making fairy wands and dust.

Mermaid – This is an incredibly popular theme among young girls. They can spend the day decorating beautiful shells, having their faces painted with mystic coral, and travelling on magical journeys through the mystical oceans surrounded by mermaids and dolphins.

Pirate – For a boy’s party there is no looking past a pirate party as a guaranteed way of providing plenty of fun for the boys. If it’s a party for both girls and boys, then a pirate and mermaid theme is the perfect combination, to cater for both genders. Liven up the theme by giving the boys eye patches, cardboard-cut-out swords and black paper hats, or better yet, allow the boys to make the pirate items themselves to keep them entertained for a while.

Prince and Princess – Take your guests on a fairy-tale journey as they turn into princes and princesses. The children will love this theme as they turn into their dreams of being a charming prince or beautiful princess as all their wishes come alive on their special day!

Barbie – This is yet again another all-time favourite theme for a little girl. Giving them the chance to become their favourite doll for the day is a sure winner of an idea!

Therefore with some careful thought, a little imagination and some well-thought-out planning you can turn your child’s birthday into a day to remember! Of course there is still the concern of planning the activities that would keep the children busy throughout the day, however this problem can be taken care of by hiring a children’s party entertainer to entertain and look after the children for the day.
