7 Ways to Plan a Wonderful Kid’s Birthday Party
When hosting a childs party it can be a scary task. A group of screaming uncontrollable children running throughout your house, making mess, crying and spilling drinks is not what you want. You want your child to have a fun, exciting day filled with magic and surprise and for your guests to be entertained and be able to relax while their children enjoy themselves.
1. Location: Firstly consider the location; where you hold the party will determine the atmosphere, the mood, and the activities you are able to organise. An outdoor venue is generally the best idea such as a park or playground, which are free to use and children have a great time running around in the sun. If its poor weather then consider hiring a hall, day care centre or even a restaurant which has an area for kids to run around.
2. Themes: Now that you have the location you can begin to think about themes, games and entertainment. Possible themes to consider could include fairy, princess, mermaid, Dora the explorer, Tinkerbell and Peterpan, Pirates, angel or superheroes.
3. Decorating: To create an even more exciting and magical experience for your child it is important to build upon the theme and let the magical experience run throughout the day. For example with a fairy theme you could decorate the venue to look like fairy land with balloons and glitter and pink cushions etc. Get innovative with the names of the food, turning marshmallows to fairy clouds or the red cordial to love potion, chips can be goblin ears and coke can be witches broth.
4. Entertainment: Hiring an entertainer is a great idea and will save you from running all the games and activities yourself, instead you can focus on talking with other parents or serving food while the children are taken away into a land of adventure by the entertainer. It is also very exciting for children to think a real fairy or superhero is coming to visit them on their special day.
5. Timing: For younger children under 3 years old it is best to hold a morning party between 10-12pm as the little ones get tired and usually need to nap in the afternoon. An hour of entertainment is perfect if you are hiring someone and even half and hour works well with really small groups. With older children any time of day is fine and extended entertainment packages are great with activities such as story telling, magic treasure hunts, craft activities and guessing games.
6. Games: There are some games that will always be loved by children at parties. Pass the parcel, musical statues, treasure hunts, bubbles are all much loved. Make sure you have fun lively music to brighten up the atmosphere and tailor the music and games to suit the theme. For example change musical statues to fairy freeze or pass the parcel to pass the magic treasure box, with special treats within.
7. Enjoy The Day: Finally always remember to enjoy the day. Irrespective of how much you prepare, things can always go wrong. Bad weather, unexpected guests or unreliable catering companies are all out of your control. But ultimately it is your day to enjoy your child and celebrate their special day, so make sure you take lots of pictures and never forget it as a fun filled celebration of life!
